THANKS FOR SAYIN'IT!
As a Thai-English-French translator, that's pretty hard to explain (without explaning 😆) Thai humor. Y'all have to know that Thai jokes are mostly about wordplays involving syllabes or tones. That's super hard to translate them.
จริงๆ คนไทยก็เป็นคนตลกด้วย 😂
Someone asked me how Thai should be translated, since Thai humor can be hard to understand sometimes, and translation tools often get it wrong.
Honestly, with the way Thai people communicate, you cannot fully rely on translation tools.
In casual conversations, we play with language all the time. Thai slang also changes incredibly fast. New words appear every day. It is more like a continuous process of shared creativity.
A lot of this comes from how we grow up. Thai people are used to playful interaction from childhood, whether through role-playing, teasing, wordplay, or building on each other’s jokes. That is why Thai humor tends to be highly contextual and layered.
And honestly, even if you are Thai, that does not automatically mean you will understand every slang word. If you are not part of the same communities or interest groups where that word is being used, sometimes you will not know what it means either.
Sometimes we even say things like “I hate it so much 555.” when what we actually mean is “I love it so much.” The words we use and the real meaning behind them can be completely opposite.
So in Thai, understanding the intention matters more than translating the words literally. That is why direct translation often misses the meaning entirely.
You really need to spend time around Thai people or be part of the same interest groups you’re into, and share a similar mindset to truly understand it.

I hope that through my work, I can help people discover how wonderful Thai entertainment is. Attending this concert was like a dream come true. It’s proof that Thai music can be shared with people abroad. I just want to thank all people that helps making T-POP go worldwide ❤️✨️
I've always loved Thai music, and Thai pop culture, because I've been listening to it since I was a child. I’ve always wanted to share this passion with others around the world. That’s why I became a translator.
