Much research has been done in recent years on these dynamic pressure enhancements, which we review in this publication. We now know more and more about the intricacies of jets, but there are still many unanswered questions!

Well written, fantastic new review paper by Krämer et al. on the high speed jets formed at the collisionless shocks. These jets can have important space weather consequences as they can change magnetic field orientation in the magnetosheath and force dayside reconnection, geomagnetic pulsations and even trigger a substorm during seemingly quiet solar wind conditions especially when interplanetary magnetic field contains large scale (about 2 Million km in wavelength) poloidal fluctuations in Bz and Bx, where an interval of southward IMF is followed by northward field and mostly radial IMF period (Bx dominating). The jet formation favors radial IMF but the jets can generate even - 30 nT southward field in the sheath during the northward IMF! Link in comments as X prevents direct sharing…

I'm very excited that my recent work is now fully published at JGR: Space Physics! We connect conditions in the solar wind, CMEs, and SIRs to the generation of jets in the magnetosheath. It serves as a statistical analysis of each solar wind structure as well. 1/2
