@ChazzerEvans They’ve said many times they won’t be pushing for independence until it is in the interest of the people of Wales so pretty pointless statement.
@Pneudaimonia@RhysCarefree We likely agree on the final outcome, the issue is with the right seeing net-zero policies as “woke” while neglecting that it will benefit us hugely.
@Pneudaimonia@RhysCarefree That’s just one of many studies that suggest net-zero will eventually result in cheaper energy bills, the main issue is how labour is funding it and putting the cost on us, who are already facing an increased cost of living…
@Pneudaimonia@RhysCarefree It’s not hard to believe that many climate change activists have made vast assumptions and the effects won’t be as disastrous as many studies suggest. But that’s not really the main benefit of net zero policies to the people of the UK, reducing dependency on foreign oil is.
@Pneudaimonia@RhysCarefree You’re obviously right about photosynthesis, the main issue is humanity is creating more co2 than is being offset by organisms, offsetting equilibrium that has been in place for millennia, it’s impossible to properly model the effects this has…
@ClareRi62674837@RhysCarefree Give me an argument against reducing dependence on foreign oil, it makes no sense to argue against policies that do that.
@ClareRi62674837@RhysCarefree Investing in new infrastructure has an upfront cost and that will increase costs short-term (this is also down to how badly labour has implemented the funding for the transition cost). In the long run this reduces dependency on foreign oil, the main driver of rising energy bills.
@jemmm85517813@RhysCarefree@KathrynPorter26 I’ve read studies including those who account for back-up power generation and renewables come out cheaper. Germany is struggling bc they shut down their nuclear reactors and dependence of Russian oil. Wind power is the dominant renewable used in the uk so winter doesnt impact it
@Pneudaimonia@RhysCarefree It’s pointless arguing with you if you’re gonna be dense, read what I sent you, follow up with your own research and yourll realise you’re wrong it’s not my job to educate u.
Wind power at this very moment is producing 1/3 of all power in the UK, more than any other source.
@RhysCarefree Electricity prices are fixed to the most expensive means of generating them, which is gas. By source renewables are way cheaper to produce than non-renewable counterparts. What reason do u have to not want that? apart from being a right wing sheep and echoing points u hear onlin
@Pneudaimonia@RhysCarefree https://t.co/aTgtCMSdNm
This covers the whole life cycle cost, also includes the backup power required with renewables and it comes out cheaper compared to gas and other non-renewable sources. As for the reducing reliance of foreign oil claim, just put 2 and 2 together.
@ClareRi62674837@RhysCarefree That’s bc electricity prices are fixed to the most expensive means of producing it, which is typically gas. This is a policy issue not a net-zero issue. 30 seconds of research would’ve told you this, but any research is too much research for a right wing head case.
@CllrAledT@Free_Wales_2024@Plaid_Cymru Aled are you dense? It was your party in Westminster who classed HS2 as an england and Wales project in the first place.
