Honestly I think HR practitioners should have a governing body considering their function.

They end up responsible for gross violations of so many laws and an HR failure has severe impact on employees financially, physically and otherwise.

Not to defend HR but in some of these shady organisations, the HR function is just there for recruitment and payroll services purposes only. No real strategic contribution to the organisation. They’re as powerless as those mistreated employees.
