Freshman Coastal Carolina freshman and (set to be) Valley Blue Sox’ catcher Josh Toole has entered the transfer portal, per @ aroundthehornszn on Instagram.
It’s opening week in the NECBL and opening week for the Valley Blue Sox!

In 42 games, Degnan had an OPS of .898 and drove in 41 with 7 home runs. An injury puts him out for the summer, along with five other names (see previous post).

All three of the listed “OF” on Valley’s preseason roster are now scratched.
Valley should still be okay in the outfield this season, even with some delayed arrivals due to injury.
However, losing Degnan hurts.

Incoming Blue Sox shortstop Anthony Grabau has made headlines in his junior season @FordhamBaseball. In 2026, he hit for a .303 batting average, posting a .911 OPS. Grabau finished with nine home runs and 38 RBI and earned a spot on @BaseballAmerica’s College Team of the Week.

John Raiola returns as head coach of the Blue Sox after spending the past five years in the front office. His last coaching tenure (2015-2019) featured back-to-back championship seasons in 2017 and 2018.
