The best discovery of our road trip has been a musician called Ella Langley. We had never heard of her before, but after hearing her on pretty much every country radio station, we’ve become big fans. She’s basically the soundtrack of our trip.
COACHES: Years ago I asked one of my smartest hockey development buddies who I should do a player study on. His suggestion:
Mark Stone.
I was like, "Really?"
He said - "Dude, trust me."
I was blown away. His hockey sense legit blew me away. His game doesn't "look" pretty, but he's one of the smartest players in the NHL.
Here are a couple examples from last night. Incredible anticipation and a reading of the game.
First defensively reading where the play is going to create the turnover and breakaway.
Then reading the defensive structure and finding the passing lane for the breakaway and goal.
If you're interested, zone in on Mark Stone next game. I promise you won't be disappointed.
"I can't believe you guys just did that to me on TV" 😭
Brandon Bussi got emotional after being surprised with footage of his parents watching him play 🥹 (@sportsnet)
Genuinely, all these tweets of World Cup visitors getting to experience the best of Small Town, USA fills me with a national pride that’s been on holiday lately
Spain is experiencing Chattanooga, TN.
Argentina is in Auburn, Alabama.
Germans are eating Waffle House.
Brits are still complaining.
This World Cup has been amazing and it hasn’t even started yet.
The quiet part out loud:
Youth hockey has a retention problem and the industry knows it.
Half the kids who play at 10 are gone by 14. The sport blames everything except the obvious: the cost, the pressure, the adults who make it miserable.
The ones who stay don't stay because of the programs. They stay because they still love it.
Protect that. It's the whole thing.
Plans released for a $16 billion mile-long ship capable of carrying 80,000 people.
The 'Freedom Ship' would be home to about 50,000 people, with space for 10,000 tourists and 20,000 crew members.
"The Freedom Ship is envisioned as a permanently mobile city at sea designed for long-term residence rather than short-term travel," the company says.
The ship would be about 8 times the size of the current largest ship in the world, the Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas.
The plans include a 15,000-seat stadium, schools, colleges, shops, clubs, a water park, a music hall, museums, parks, and more.
The ship, which would run on nuclear, would be too large to dock and would remain in international waters.
Freedom Cruise International says it would go around the world every two to three years.
Insane.
NHL fans in Indianapolis have no broadcaster audio for Game 1 of the Stanely Cup Final. Here's how the first goal sounded on WRTV with only the in-arena sound.
This was the last text I ever received from my 34 year old Son, Edward. It was exactly a year ago today.
Within hours he was gone. He decided he wasn't "OK" and he took his own life just after midnight.
He was fighting on many fronts- Relationship problems, financial worry and issues with self esteem.
I think about him 100 times a day. I'd do anything to get him back, even if it was just for 5 minutes.
I'd say all the things to him that I didn't say when I had the opportunity. It's too late now.
Please take care of your loved ones. Watch over them. Many are struggling. Many are thinking dark thoughts. Many will take the decision to end their own suffering.
They need help and understanding. They probably won't get it from the "system" so it may be up to you.
Give someone a call today to ask how they're doing. Tell them Edward suggested it.
