My biggest issue with appointing Barbara Lee or Karen Bass to Harris' Senate seat is their age. Lee is 74 and Bass is 67. I don't think it makes much sense to appoint someone over the age of 65 to a safe Senate seat. You should pick someone who can hold the seat for a long time.
