Y’all. I know I asked for help, but let me clarify that category romance in the sense that I’m asking is not referring to genre. I’ve been reading romances for two decades. I review them and interact with them daily. 🙃
Category romance fans! I need recommendations. There are so many and I don't know where to start. Love sexy contemporaries, fantasy/paranormal, and willing to try historical. No secret babies or suspense!
I think I've figured out why the marketing terms "STEMinist" and "romantasy" bother me and it's because they feel infantilizing, as if we need a cute portmanteau to describe romance novels. This is my grumpiest romance take, I swear.
Love all the people in the comments who clearly know nothing about distribution, publishing, or indie bookstore stock/profit margins/buying habits. I just made my partner suffer through a pre-bedtime rant 🙃
