@GaijinMommy Used to walk across this line every day. I really miss the efficiency of those level crossings. In Perth the crossings drop 2-3 minutes before a train even arrives.

Sometimes people complain about stories with historical/fantasy settings using the verb "to fire" to refer to shooting arrows, since firearms don't exist in that world, meaning that that wording shouldn't exist. I disagree.
As somebody else pointed out, how do you even know when somebody is a "gaijin"? Used to speak exclusively in Japanese to a friend who was French-Japanese. Similar with many other foreign friends from non-English speaking backgrounds.
I think it can be helpful to think about the opposite situation. Would two Japanese people who live and work in the US speaking English (or who live and work in Germany speaking German) together make you uncomfortable?
It absolutely shouldn’t.
For the record, I'm now pretty fine, and much recovered (I think heart inflammation caused by virus or vaccine reaction), but months in I've never seen anybody other than a GP, and received zero medication. All I could be told was, "no damage so far, and not dying right now".
The Australian medical system. You're supposed to avoid turning to Dr. Google, particularly if you are dealing with health anxiety. Meanwhile you can wait months to actually see a specialist who might help you (and that's if your GP gives you the correct referral!)

Email from my ex-university alumni association: "would you like to volunteer for open day?"
I don't know. Would you like to stop running the university as a business and paying the VC like a CEO? I'm not loyal to brands.
My partner was complaining about the English prepositions "in", "on", and "at".
Look, I said. It's very simple. Here's an example.
My cup was on the desk, at reception, in the lobby, on the third floor, in the building, on Example street, in the CBD.
