Day 4 of our 12 Days of BirdLife celebrates the launch of AVISTEP in four new countries, helping the planet's migratory birds. 🌍
Together with DEG Impulse, we rolled out AVISTEP, an open-access tool that allows anyone interested in planning on and offshore wind energy, solar energy, or powerlines, to see the exact impact upon birds across the entirety of each country. ⚡️🔧
This information ensures developers and regulators develop facilities in the most appropriate locations. 📌
Each of the newly added countries – Egypt, Kenya, Laos and Uzbekistan – are experiencing rapidly expanding energy infrastructure that could pose a threat to migratory birds if not properly planned. 🐦

Stay tuned for our 12 Days of BirdLife! 📆🎉

The extraordinary migration of the satellite tagged male falcon Chiuluan2, originating from Chiuluan village in Manipur continues to amaze as he arrived in Mozambique, having traversed an incredible path through Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zambia. Chiuluan2 had earlier reached Somalia in just five days and 17 hours, traversing 3000 Kms over the Arabian sea. Following a similar path, a female falcon named Guangram has initiated her non-stop flight across the Arabian Sea after making stop overs at Angul in Odisha, Indravati Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh, and Tadoba Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra, highlighting the critical stopover sites that support these birds during their extensive migration. These tracking efforts, led by Dr. Suresh Kumar of the Wildlife Institute of India, provide invaluable insights into the migratory patterns of Amur falcons, emphasizing the importance of conservation initiatives along their migratory routes. Wishing these avian travelers safe passage on their extraordinary journeys.

Learning so much about the great work being done by Parties and stakeholders in this topic. We need to boost their profile and ensure synergies. Grassland species are indicators of healthy ecosystems that benefit farmers and other local communities!
Agriculture intensification, wildfires and exotic species are amongst the top threats affecting CMS Appendix I and II species, including southern South American migratory grassland birds. 🐦
International cooperation is needed! The third meeting of the signatories of the Southern South American Grassland Birds MoU is currently taking place in Florianopolis, Brazil. 🇧🇷
More than 50 participants are reviewing the implementation of its programme of work and agreeing on new actions needed to protect threatened migratory birds in the region. 🌎

"Ecologismo Radical no basado en la ingenieria"
Que después de lo que ha pasado, estemos enfrentando ingenieros con ecologistas, cuando todo buen ingeniero sabe usar el ecosistema, y viceversa...da idea de cómo piensan algunos.

This is the type of thinking that will be ruling one of the most powerful countries in the world.
Illiteracy will support this type of leaders.
Not my leaders. Not my culture.
