I used to fly a UAL REDEYE from SFO to BOS every Friday night—-as a passenger. At the time UAL entertainment offered the aircraft comm frequency on Ch 9 of the audio program. As a GA pilotcwith about 3,000 hours I liked to listen the the centers handing off flights to the next controller, listening to idle pilot chatter. It was about 3am and the cabin was asleep. I had the comms channel on and was slumped against the window in a shallow doze. Suddenly another pilot of another jetliner on frequency said “Holy Shit! Did you guys see that?” “Wow that was incredible !” Said another pilot. About half a minute of excited chatter between several flight decks was finally interrupted by a clearly senior, deeper voiced pilot who said “Forget about it. If any of you say anything about that it will be your jobs”. That ended thr chatter. At time we were over western Ontario Canada at a high transcontinental altitude. Ir was Spring 1994. So these guys did see stuff often -just decided to not report it
Nothing beats the pure, uncontained joy of a little donkey when he realizes it is time for breakfast. That big, funny smile is absolutely contagious and will brighten any day
Love how each horse has its own personality.
Back in the day, I would go riding with a friend of mine from high school, and the horse she rode was always smiling.
I haven’t thought about that in years. 🥰♥️
Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada spoke about the contradictions of human nature:
“Some people dream of having a swimming pool at home, while those who have one hardly ever use it. Those who have lost a loved one feel a profound sense of loss, while others often complain about their living relatives. Those without a partner long for one, while those who have one often don't appreciate it. The hungry would give anything for a meal, while the satiated complain about the taste of their food. Those without a car dream of owning one, while those who have a car are always looking for a better one.”
The key to happiness is gratitude: truly seeing and appreciating what we already have, and understanding that somewhere, someone would give anything for what we take for granted.
