Thrilled to have successfully defended my PhD on the Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacoeconomics of Drug-Drug Interactions in the Older Community-Dwelling Population. Thank you to my examiners, @shanecull & Prof Elisabetta Poluzzi (@Unibo) for an enjoyable discussion this afternoon.
💡Our findings may suggest the need for routine, full medication review when prescribing and dispensing medications for this older population in order to mitigate potentially harmful DDIs, especially those concomitantly prescribed.

💡Our study provides insight into specific high risk DDIs which should be examined in future #HEOR studies.

🚩We found that DDIs which⬆️bleeding risk were associated with⬆️risk (aOR=1.83 [1.35-2.44]) & cost (median cost €3,520) of ADR-related hospital admission, compared to those without one of these DDIs.
Very pleased to launch RxTrends, a tool to visualise open data on medication prescribing in Ireland: https://t.co/w9PC5FK01q. It was developed by Dr Ahmed Hassan Ali through the HRB-funded CDRx project. You can read more about it in the companion paper: https://t.co/gezzOWAmxl
A new tool developed by researchers @RCSIPharmBioMol enables the analysis of prescribing patterns in Ireland for the first time.
Users can track prescribing rates and costs over time, giving a clearer picture of national medicine usage.
