In response to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's address to the United Nations General Assembly, we, in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), affirm the following:

Palestinian resistance is a national and moral responsibility that derives its legitimacy from our steadfast Palestinian people and their natural right to resist the occupation, as recognized by international laws and charters. We absolutely reject the PA President's identification with the false Zionist narrative that attempts to distort it by accusing it of targeting civilians.

All attempts to impose guardianship over our people and their will will fail. We consider the PA President's assertion that Hamas will have no role in government an infringement on our Palestinian people's inherent right to self-determination and to choose who governs them, and an unacceptable submission to foreign dictates and schemes.

We affirm that the weapons of resistance cannot be touched as long as the occupation continues to occupy our land and in the hearts of our people. We denounce the President of the Palestinian Authority's demand to hand them over, especially in light of the brutal war of extermination our people in the Gaza Strip are being subjected to, and the crimes and barbaric attacks perpetrated by armed settlers and the occupation army against unarmed civilians in the occupied West Bank.

The only way to protect our national cause and confront the fascist occupation's schemes aimed at annihilating and displacing our people in Gaza, annexing the West Bank, and Judaizing Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque is through national unity and consensus on a comprehensive struggle program to confront the criminal Zionist occupation, until our people's aspirations for liberation, return, and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital are fulfilled.
