USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving.
Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.
I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these."
"They just come with the table, man."
They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner.
This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.
I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared.
"Did we…?"
"Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless."
Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined.
My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude."
Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.
I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.
Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.
I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.
Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
Read It Once, It Works Immediately
Heavenly Father, I place my future in Your hands. Darkness has tried to bring delays and closed doors, but You are the God who makes a way I declare: my destiny belongs to You. Open doors no one can shut, remove everybm obstacle that blocks my steps, and lead me into Your perfect plan. Surround my journey with Your light, and let no curse, no attack, and no scheme succeed against me, Lord,
I promise to share this prayer with at least one person. Put "Amen to disappoint Satan!
Anthony Bourdain died on this day eight years ago and him describing Waffle House is still the single-most important description of America that has ever been articulated.
It was Pierce Brosnan's own idea for Bond to appear with long shaggy hair and a full beard in Die Another Day (2002), reflecting 14 months of torture in a North Korean prison. It marked the first time James Bond ever wore a beard in an official Eon film.

The scene in question features the character George Sanderson being dramatically tackled and shaved by the CDA after his contamination with a ‘foreign object’ – a harmless white sock.
The phrase ‘We have a 23-19!’ is shouted by one of his fellow monsters, sparking a chaotic and humorous sequence.
“The 23rd letter in the alphabet is W, and the 19th letter is S. Standing for white socks. Yep.”
“’23-19′ is in all Pixar movies because it’s the studio number that the producers start off in.”
“It’s also the code for copyright infringement law and hidden in lots of movies that have broken it.”

The Scandal That Chased James Franco Out Of Hollywood
James Franco was at the height of his Hollywood trajectory when, in 2018, he was accused of sexual misconduct by five women, four of whom attended his now-closed acting school, Studio 4, which was launched in 2014. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sarah Tither-Kaplan, one of the accusers, claimed that she and the other victims would give in to Franco's requests as they believed it would benefit their careers in the long run. "I feel there was an abuse of power, and there was a culture of exploiting non-celebrity women, and a culture of women being replaceable," she opined.
The shocking allegations came at the height of the Me Too movement when numerous women in Hollywood, and all over the world, began raising awareness about sexual harassment and abuse in the entertainment industry and beyond. Therefore, the claims against the "General Hospital" alum cost Franco movie roles and even a decades-long friendship with collaborator Seth Rogen.
James Franco discussed the sexual misconduct allegations made against him. Referring to the decision to call one of his acting school classes "Sex Scenes," the "Disaster Artist" star admitted that using that title was a stupid decision. Franco also acknowledged having romantic relationships with certain pupils, but clarified, "I didn't sleep with anybody in that particular class, but over the course of my teaching, I did sleep with students and that was wrong."
During a 2018 episode of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," Franco strongly denied the sexual misconduct allegations. But, in October 2020, the women filed a lawsuit against Franco and two other men — one of whom co-owned the acting school with the "Freaks and Geeks" star — stating that the students were defrauded by Studio 4 and that they were constantly forced to perform sex scenes on camera. The matter was settled in 2021 when Franco and his fellow accused associates agreed to settle for $2.2 million.
