Giving for the sake of Allah.

Reflecting on the sincerity behind the generosity of the Promised Messiah (as), Beloved Huzoor (aba) narrated:

“Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib (ra) writes that it was the habit of the Promised Messiah (as) that whatever he gave to anyone was never done for display or ostentation. Rather, it was solely for the pleasure of Allah the Almighty and out of compassion for His creation. This is why he generally gave in a very discreet manner. At times, however, he would give openly in order to encourage others and provide a practical example for them to follow.

One of his methods of giving discreetly was to do so in such a subtle way that even the recipients struggled to grasp it.”

Reflecting on another beautiful aspect of the character of the Promised Messiah (as), Beloved Huzoor (aba) narrated:

“While describing the life and character of the Promised Messiah (as), Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Sahib Irfani (ra) writes that another aspect of the generosity and beneficence of the Promised Messiah (as) is manifest in his life, which is demonstrated by his intercessions and recommendations.

At times, someone would come to him seeking assistance with a matter that was beyond his power to resolve, as it depended on others. In such cases, he would gladly recommend even such individuals for the person’s benefit, whom he would never approach for a personal matter. In other words, while he would request others to help someone [in need], he would never ask them to do anything for him personally. He writes that this is such a noble and sincere quality that it is very rarely found in the world.”
