@remmy_308@gmhales@1davebell And in the US and Canada the thin blue line badge has been used in white supremacist situations (and also banned by many police forces)
I think we have stumbled across the issue. It’s used for so many things nobody truly knows what the person wearing it is supporting
Tonight @Keir_Starmer showed his deep commitment to public service, his empathy and his seriousness about the change @UKLabour can deliver.
The contrast with @RishiSunak could not be more stark.
It’s time for a Prime Minister who will put the country first and the party second.
@remmy_308@gmhales@1davebell Of course and policies evolve too but the current one is the current one.
It is interesting though that this charity is nothing to do with fallen officers when that’s what officers say is the reason for wearing the badge
@grahamwettone@remmy_308@gmhales@1davebell I’ve just replied to that. There is now but only since 2019.
But interestingly the organisation is about looking after the mental well being of officers, not remembering fallen officers as it appears lots assume the badge is for 🤷♂️
@remmy_308@gmhales@1davebell In my defence though they have only been a recognised charity since late 2019 (the badges have been around much longer)
Interestingly though they describe their activities as looking after the mental well being of officers, not remembering fallen officers
@remmy_308@gmhales@1davebell I don’t know the reasoning behind the policy but the Support for Hero’s is a registered charity at least. There is no organisation or charity behind the thin blue line badge so there is nothing ‘official’ that’s being supported.
@remmy_308@gmhales@1davebell Surely the fundamental point is that the Met has a uniform policy and officers are expected to follow it, just like they are expected to follow every other policy?
Its fine to disagree with the policy and if that’s the case then take steps to influence its change
You will continue to suffer so long as you allow yourself to have an emotional response to things that are said to you.
If words can control you then everything else will control you.
Instead, sit back, observe things with logic and allow things to pass. That is true power.
