The facts seem undeniable:
1) there was no threat to the cenotaph
2) some politicians cynically decided to say there was to stoke a culture war
3) their words activated far right thugs who committed large scale violence against the police.
There must be accountability for this
@Garyhenri1@Paul_D1963@BTP He's not a patriot, he's a jingoist. And a xenophobe. He's a disgrace to the memory of the British and overseas soldiers that fought for our freedom against fascists like him.
@bbc5live Not just food prices... supermarkets historically had cheapest petrol prices but these don't seem to come down v much recently and locally I'm finding they are the same price as likes of Texaco and Esso etc, which is previously unheard of. Are they holding prices out of greed?
A final thought: however difficult the last few days have been, it simply doesn’t compare to having to flee your home from persecution or war to seek refuge in a land far away. It’s heartwarming to have seen the empathy towards their plight from so many of you. 3/4
Double take of the day. (So far, it’s still early.) Rishi Sunak’s local electricity network has been upgraded to meet the power demands of his new swimming pool. Maybe read that twice.
@GaryLineker Nice one Gary & BBC Sport colleagues, as well highlighting the important issue of migrant welfare/refuge it's also about how workers can stand up to employers & commissioners who try to bully them by joining together in support of each other. A great example to set, all of you 👏🏻
NEW: Sad news- the former (and first woman) Speaker of the Commons, Baroness Betty Boothroyd has died at the age of 93.
Formerly the Labour MP for West Bromwich West. Working class girl who rose to the top. Admired and respected across the chamber. What a life.
"I warn you not to be young."
"I warn you not to fall ill."
"I warn you not to grow old."
In 1983 Neil Kinnock warned Britain of the dangers of Tory government.
40 years later, every single thing he warned of has come true.
'Are you saying the ministers are effectively lying?' - @SophyRidgeSky
"Yes, I am saying that", says Unite general secretary @UniteSharon and adds 'Im working with a government that doesn't want resolution'

Rishi Sunak, the person in charge of our public services, uses private health, private planes and went to a private school.
The privatised Prime Minister.
I've rarely read legislation so lacking in underlying coherence and logic as today's bill from the government that would significantly restrict the right to strike - and I quote - in "health services, fire and rescue services, education services, transport...
"Sewage was dumped every four minutes during Therese Coffey’s three years as water minister."
Yep you read that right.
"presided over 321-years worth of sewage discharge in three years".

@SteveBarclay You've broken the NHS over the last 12 years and now you want to point the finger at the dedicated staff who have been trying to limp it along for the sake of their patients. You are an absolute disgrace. I can't wait for the day when you and your lot are shown the door.
Cards on the table. I’m a nurse, I’m on £84k a year plus expenses. My hospital has heavily subsidised bars and restaurant and best of all free car parking. I didn’t even have to study or have a degree or anything. Oh hang on, that’s MPs, not nurses

@Councillorsuzie@AngelaRayner Angela has some values and works hard to help people in this country rather than grift her way through life. Tell me where the credible people in the Conservative Party are again?
