at the Cockpit theatre this autumn.

Virginia and Leonard Woolf moved to Monks Cottage 1919. Woolf walked the downs daily and Leonard was a keen gardener.  A new play,  Fame and Rapture explores this world.

Katherine Mansfield was born on this day in 1888 in #Wellington, New Zealand. She went to boarding school in London around 1903 and returned in 1908 after a short time in NZ where she was determined to become a writer.

This is one of Virginia Woolf's desks - bought over 100 years ago from Heals on Tottenham Ct Road- this sits in the writing shed in the garden at Monk's Cottage Rodmell. She hoped to host Katherine Mansfield but by this time she was living abroad. #writers #Fame & #Rapture
