@NewWorldOilers Oh and have you seen the Ducks blue line currently as a result of excellent management?! It’s easily the worst D core in the league. If the Oilers are worried about the Ducks, we’ve got bigger problems lol
@NewWorldOilers I completely disagree. Short term, would it have been great for Carlsson to be out of the Pacific? Sure. But saying this impacts the Oilers negatively is far from the truth. An 18M contract puts the Ducks in cap hell and is going to force them to give up assets to shed contracts.
I temporarily take back everything negative I’ve ever said about Stan Bowman as Oilers GM. Today was surgical in every single way. Not in a million years did I think we could shed Nurse’s contract, with no retention, AND get a return. Masterclass. #LetsGoOilers
This is a pretty ridiculous take. You’ve somehow claimed that all 3Cs are equal. They are not. 4M for Dickinson is a fantastic signing for the #LetsGoOilers It also gives you flexibility with how you deploy RNH.
You can find Trent Frederic's & Jason Dickinson's in free agency for 2x2's.
I get you like the player, but the advantage of a Jason Dickinson or Trent Frederic is the fact that they fill the role for the desired price.
Paying solid money for long-term is a recipe for disaster.
This Babcock thing is actually going to happen isn’t it. Well ya know what, when it fails miserably, I’m sorry but that’s going to be on 97 and 29 just as much as the rest of management. This is insanity. #LetsGoOilers
I’m starting to genuinely worry that I may have to look for a new team next summer. And my god is that going to be an expensive change. Hoping the #LetsGoOilers figure it out but so far, in arguably the most important offseason in franchise history, it’s looking like a circus.
This better not be true and/or simply DD before eventually hiring Cassidy. Babcock would almost definitely be a mistake. The only thing he brings is continuing the trend of #LetsGoOilers coaches with phallic names.
Sources: The Edmtn Oilers are consulting with the NHLPA to see if there are objections that must be resolved before potentially hiring Mike Babcock. Amid allegations of invading players privacy, Babcock resigned in CBJ as Head Coach in 2023. Further investigation may be required.
@Chedzz I mean this is actually one of the few stat corrects that isn’t particularly close. That puck is 2 ft above the net and was never going to be a SOG
@lime_green It really just comes down to the player having the control or not. Totally agree with your points about money and friends but if he’s going to get traded anyway, he can at least waive now to go to a specific team. Next offseason, it’s decided by a list and he loses that control.
Quoting this so that there’s a receipt when he signs a 7 yr extension in Edmonton to stay here for the rest of his career. Also, imagine having a Flames podcast that exclusively talks about the #LetsGoOilers …
Todd McLellan and Jay Woodcroft were the best coaches of the McDavid era and no one can convince me otherwise. The players failed both of them. #LetsGoOilers
Not even a nomination is absolutely ludicrous. Voting rights should be stripped from half of these schmucks. Imagine EK not getting nominated after his 101 point season.. oh wait, he won. Give your heads a shake @ThePHWA.
For the longest time, I would adamantly say the Oilers are a better team with McDrai on separate lines. I never really thought about how it makes it harder to shelter their minutes when needed as well as how it could hold other top guys back from their potential. #LetsGoOilers
Leon Draisaitl really impressed at his postseason press conference today. I’m not going to quote anything in particular, but the entirety of his comments demonstrates the highest level of professionalism and leadership possible in that forum.
