NEW: The 🇺🇸 United States responds to queries about why they allowed 🇬🇭 Thomas Partey into the country following 🇨🇦 Canada's refusal due to his ongoing case.
"...at this time, he has not been convicted of a crime and was admitted to the United States after being issued a visa."
You don't look like a Supreme Court justice to me.
Between being accused and being convicted, there's a river called justice. Learn to respect it a little before passing judgment.
What is despicable are superficial judgments like yours.
In any civilized society, justice is premised on several principles that include:
1. An accused, even if caught red-handed, is innocent until proven guilty.
2. That sentence, hence punishment, should begin from the day of sentencing.
Canada’s actions defy both of these fundamental principles. They are treating Partey as guilty before a court has even ruled, and punishing him before he has been convicted and sentenced.
A society that fails to adhere to these fundamental principles of justice is not civilized. And, if an individual cannot comprehend this, they are not worthy of being part of a civilized society.
