I think it's time we rethink what therapy is. My training taught me that work in a comfy cozy tranquil space with soft voice for an hour that is therapist-directed in purpose is therapy. My work in the field, suggests otherwise.
I thought I’d explain what happened today because I’m absolutely exhausted and tbh I think a light needs to be shone on this. Especially given so many people like me seem to experience the same thing.
it has taken a global pandemic for me to realise that I do not need people in my life who belittle me, who put me down, who make me feel small.
please know you deserve better.
Remember, if your therapist does something that makes you uncomfortable, you have a right to fire them. If it feels unethical, you have a right to report them.
Of people seeking mental heathcare, in its many forms. You deserve to be respected, honored, heard. You deserve to have your boundaries respected. You deserve to not be belittled.
If you feel you are not receiving these things, please, fire your therapist and find a new one.
As a therapist, I often seek out therapy to process the experiences I have. Some of the harmful things I've received from mental health providers leave me more exhausted than my own professional work. It's moments like these that remind me of the bravery and perseverance
Sunday’s are the best days to ~hang~ !!! Although life and school seem overwhelming at times, I love to look back at old pictures and reminisce on wonderful memories like this one!

#lifeisasongtherapy… https://t.co/kLf7ZyEIKZ
I'm late to the game, and am only now learning how harmful this is to my non-white community members, and am doing all I can to learn, grow, keep pushing to be better. This is a lifelong journey that I am here for.
As I'm reading the literature, I'm realizing that #MentalHealthSoWhite is a problem. Why are we suppressing the voices, ideas, thoughts of our black and brown communities? Why are we taught to talk about everything, except race?
As a mental health professional, I am trained to discuss sex, death, suicide, religion. All of these topics, but never, ever, was I taught to think about race outside of a diversity class that amounted to "people are different from you".
Looking back on some great memories with these amazing animals! Horses may be large and intimidating animals at times, but when they gain your trust and understand your feelings they become quite amazing… https://t.co/At1dOBkdMq
