Ministry doesn't always look like standing behind a pulpit.
Sometimes it looks like caring for the person directly in front of you.
As an anesthesiologist, I meet people on some of their most vulnerable and frightening days.
I may only have a few minutes with them before they go to sleep, but those few minutes matter.
I can reassure them.
Advocate for them.
Protect them when they can't protect themselves.
Treat my coworkers with kindness.
Do my work with integrity and excellence.
And I can do all of it as if I'm doing it for Him.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." Colossians 3:23
Maybe we don't need to go somewhere else to find our ministry.
Maybe God has already placed people in front of us to love and serve and that we're gonna do wholeheartedly and righteously.
I hope I never become too busy to notice the small evidence that life is going right. A good conversation. A safe journey home. A meal you enjoyed. A laugh you didn't plan. Those moments count too.
