Indian stock exchanges are closed today for Mumbai's municipal elections.
The fact that our exchanges, which have international linkages, are shut down for a local municipal election shows poor planning and a serious lack of appreciation for second-order effects.
As Munger said: "Show me the incentive, and I will show you the outcome."
The holiday exists because no one who matters has any incentive to oppose the market holiday.
It also tells you how far we have to go before global investors take us seriously.
After 252 days of continuous protection, Fraud IAS Puja Khedkar got her 10th Court extension for protection from arrest.
Last week, a lawyer appeared in Court with Unbuttoned shirt, got jailed for 6 months.
Indian Judiciary will help us to achieve the dream of Vikshit Bharat .
You think YOUR plans didn’t work out?
#SunitaWilliams and #BarryWilmore thought they were going to space for 8 days.
They ended up being stuck for 286 days.
They were LITERALLY stranded in space.
Imagine this:
👉🏾 You pack for a short trip, but instead, you’re gone for almost a year.
👉🏾 No fresh air. No real food. No way out—just waiting in the void of space.
👉🏾 No clear answer to when (or even if) you’ll make it back home.
And here we are, losing patience when:
- A 10-minute traffic jam ruins our day.
- A deal gets delayed by a few months.
- A rejection email makes us want to quit.
Perspective.
These astronauts had no control over their situation.
They couldn’t just book a return flight. They had to adapt, stay calm, and trust the process for 286 days of uncertainty.
And they made it.
If THAT isn’t the ultimate lesson in patience, endurance, and problem-solving—I don’t know what is.
Hats off to these legends for not just surviving, but making history.
Next time life throws unexpected delays at us… let’s remember:
At least we’re not stranded in space.
Life will throw curveballs. Your plans will go sideways. Things will take WAY longer than expected.
But if these astronauts can survive nine months in space instead of eight days, you and I can handle a few detours in life.

Will Pune go the Bengaluru way ?
India is home to a sixth of the world’s population, and only 3% of the planets fresh water. In Pune a growing city has basic infrastructure playing catch up. More and more people now puncture our aquifers to access precious ground water.
The infamous bore wells.
Groundwater has sequestered itself over millions of years and isn’t easily replaceable. Pune has approximately 28 Aquifers which occupy 259 sq kms of area underground. That’s almost half of our city’s area.
These acquifers have an estimated water potential of 6144,6209050 mm3. That’s only 6144 crore litres. ACWADAM Data.
It's barely any water.
How one might ask.
Pune consumes 200 crore litres of water every day. 1732 MLD million litres per day comes from the dams. 300 MLD odd come from other sources.
Almost half of this flows into the rivers as raw untreated sewage. Thats approximately a 110 crore litres of raw untreated sewage.
Be that as it may, the acquifers recharge too. especially the shallow one’s.
The key question therefore is, How long will Pune’s groundwater last. Estimates suggest that, At current extraction rates. 61 years.
If the DEMAND doubles & the extraction rates double. 30 years. If it triples 10 years. By 2035 we might face a water crises.
Fringes of Pune don’t have access to water. This gives demand in no uncertain terms to Tankers plying water.
No real laws govern this business.
PMC had begun giving building authorisations after allowing for builders to take it upon themselves to arrange for water within their communities.
The water was to come from tankers. The problem only grew bigger.
A smart man, Amol Balwadkar filed a PIL & got a temporary reprieve to this menace. But we digress. How big is the tanker problem. PMC claims they do 306,842 tankers per annum. Thats about 840 / day. Somewhere between 84 lakh to a crore litres per day. PMC data. But, PMC owns only 36, tankers the rest it gets private operators to fulfill.
How much water do private tanker operators supply. For that we need to ask how many Tankers exist. RTO data is 4992 tankers of all kinds 3407 in Pune & 1585 in PCMC. I’m estimating that About 1900 or so are water tankers. at 10000 litres per tanker. They ferry approximately 190,00000 litres 1.9 crore litres of water in a single trip & about 950,00000 litres of water (5 trips) daily. That’s 9.5 crore litres. This is the approximate size of the tanker water business. it continues to grow. A large portion of ground water is being extracted by direct bores into the acquifers. There are cases of bores which have gone down to depths of a 1000 ft or more and not struck any water. In other places there are cases of bore wells having completely run bone dry.
In a never before circumstance Central parts of Pune city are experiencing water stress because of 3X & 4X FSI norms. 30 people are resident now where there were 3. In high rise tenements. In other places 300 people are resident where there were 30. Result Prime Localities like Prabhat road are running out of water. Tanker's are plying. 4 FSI consequence = water shortages. The PMC response to water shortages on law college road or Prabhat road is to lay new pipelines with increased capacities. It simply means digging up roads again & redoing everything, water, sewage, gas, electricity & roads from scratch. again… Somebody forgot to do the high school math which would explain, four times the number of people will also mean four times the amount of garbage, sewage & traffic. As long as PMC gets to dig roads and redo everything again and yet again. Nobodies complaining.
Furthermore, increased traffic raises demands for increased road capacity. Lets chop down more trees, build more flyovers and take roads through rivers and hills. some of us forget, just like more FSI brings in more people in a lesser area. More roads compound the problem, roads bring more traffic, more tankers and more water scarcity. Pune Suffers.
Can SEBI chief explain what were they doing when a ₹50Cr SME/midcap went Upto ₹5000Cr and when this froth was being created - what was the necessity to issue statement and crash the market - taking unsuspecting investors to ride because of spiralling effect? Why is that a paper company #RPOWER is allowed valuation of ₹1 lac Cr?
Why #PAYTM is allowed valuation of over ₹1.25 lac Cr when it has assets of only ₹9k crs? The share is now at ₹350 as against issue price of ₹2100! Same happened with #NYKAA which was allowed to raise ₹5k crs,it was valued at over ₹1 lac crs when its sales were less than ₹5000 crs & PE of 2000+ , Who approved all these issues? All these issues had sold for less than 15% of their issues price. Anil Ambani promoted #RPOWER whose shares were allotted at ₹405-450 sold for Re 1 - what a shame on so called financial experts, and SEBI watch dog! They are supposedly managing mkts and risks. Rather they are hand in gloves with market manipulators. They are the real threat! Will @RBI@nsitharaman@narendramodi see what is happening? Who will bell the cat? SEBI & @BSEIndia@NSEIndia manipulates the mkt by reducing/increasing margins, classifying them in ASM and removing them at their whims and fancies . All these actions are done to squeeze the buyers and not the manipulators. Once a share is distributed all these actions are acted upon. No doubt where money is involved all this will happen but then what is the role of a regulator - creating panic or saving? My request: take action against incompetent SEBI chief, stabilise rules, and no human intervention to apply at will. This will make India ₹5 trillion economy faster; not when these manipulators are allowed to manipulate.@CNBC_Awaaz@ZeeBusiness@ETNOWlive
Stop whining about the traffic jam on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Even Mount Everest has multi-hour traffic jams
The problem is that people want to do the same damn thing that everyone else does and on the same damn day
