The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within the spectrum, even encourage the more critical and dissident views.
That gives people the sense that there is free thinking going on!

🇪🇺 The EU just passed Chat Control 1.0 in Brussels.
Platforms can now scan your private messages again, officially "voluntary," in practice blanket surveillance.
Here's the democratic scandal: 314 MEPs voted against it. Only 276 voted for it.
It passed anyway... because an absolute majority of all MEPs was required to reject it, not just a majority of those present.
More people voted no than yes. It still passed.
Pushed through on an urgent procedure just before summer recess, when absences are highest and attention is lowest.
This is how rights disappear folks. Not in one dramatic moment, but in procedural fine print, on a slow news day, while everyone's looking at Tehran.

What the Western mainstream media won't tell you is the fact that Zelensky won the Ukrainian election on the promise to give equal rights to Russian Ukrainians.
Once commissioned by Washington he went full nazi.......
This is properly insane: quite literally the worst example of censorship I've ever heard of anywhere.
I checked the actual ruling (which you can see here: https://t.co/dBKFWZ2ZWm) and, to be clear, it isn't just censorship in the conventional sense - blocking access to a website or removing content from platforms - this is the criminalization of information relayed by private citizens, with prison sentences attached.
And the most insane aspect if that it does NOT matter if the information relayed is accurate or not. It just matters that it originates from RT or other media outlets banned in the EU.
In other words, truth isn't a defense anymore in the EU, it literally doesn't matter. It's purely based on the identity of the speaker.
The ruling is actually explicit about this: the regulation, quoted by the Court says that the prohibition applies to "any content," and they draw no distinction based on what the content actually says. If it originates from banned outlets, it's banned.
It is, quite simply, a complete unraveling of the entire post-Enlightenment legal and philosophical project where entire generations of Europeans fought to move from "who says it" to "is it true" as the operative question.
Think about the absurdity of it: if RT publishes a video saying the sky is blue and you share it on a publicly accessible website in the EU, you'd fall within the scope of this ruling, making you liable to criminal prosecution.
Completely and utterly absurd. But that's the EU today for you 🤷
The people of Gaza deserve to return to their stolen homes inside what is now Israel. Because Israel won't allow that, UNRWA has helped keep Palestinians alive in Gaza, all while protecting their status as refugees. This declaration from the "Board of Peace" continues a joint US-Israeli campaign to strip Palestinians of their refugee status, and their right to live in peace and freedom.
We've been quiet recently because Mark Goodwin and I have been working to write the most comprehensive investigation into Polymarket's origins and ambitions to date.
We found that Polymarket's "official" origin story, that Shayne Coplan founded the company alone in 2020 and then built "the company in his bathroom", is a lie. Polymarket really started years earlier as another company called TokenBnk that was deeply tied to Israeli interests, specifically a crypto company founded by Benjamin Netanyahu's niece and nephew. Coplan has actively tried to obfuscate this company from his story and it's not the only thing either.
In Part 1 of this two-part series, we unravel the real history of Polymarket, directly connecting the company to Peter Thiel's efforts to resurrect controversial DARPA programs from its now defunct Information Awareness Office. Polymarket appears to have been chosen by Thiel and his associates to succeed in resurrecting DARPA's Policy Analysis Market where another Thiel-linked company, Augur, had previously failed.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we explore the current influence of prediction markets and Polymarket, including how an insidious effort to have prediction markets replace representative democracy as a governance model is already being slowly implemented by the White House.

The irony in this story is overwhelming.
The guy fled China in 2014 because he faced prison for fraud and corruption. No-one believed China, despite them issuing an Interpol Red Notice for his arrest. Western media and US officials universally presented him as a brave dissident unfairly harassed by the "CCP" in a "politically motivated" way (https://t.co/z0vpZvYDrT) because he was fighting corruption (see this VOA story for instance: https://t.co/0rC47K7QDM), a complete inversion of reality.
Steve Bannon even started a nonprofit with him called the "Rule of Law Society." The irony writes itself.
Long story short and true to form, Miles Guo used his "dissident" credibility in the US to - guess what - defraud Americans of $1 billion.
And here we are, 12 years afterwards, with US courts essentially concluding "yeah no, he is actually a crook, our bad."
Which makes it probably the most expensive fact-check in history: $1 billion of damage to verify what an Interpol Red Notice said a decade ago.
I know I'll sound like a broken record but this is yet another fantastic illustration that the kneejerk anti-China bias in Western media is actively harmful. When China says "careful, that guy is a dangerous crook" maybe, just maybe, it's worth checking before branding him with a heroic "dissident" narrative that he can then use to rob your people's life savings... Just a thought 🤷
@nestrangeiro_pt Deixa-me cá pensar quem foi que atacou quem sem motivo (duas vezes) durante negociações? 🤔
