@socialtwatter@PT_FC@HamesLocal The way you’ve cropped the last photo is very misleading.
The line about ‘these arrangements also apply to playoffs involving Channel Islands clubs’ is about the travel and hotel costs, not the fact the games need to be played away (which just states games in August)
Our play-off fixture scheduled for this Sunday will no longer be going ahead as planned.
Guernsey FC explored several options to fly our team out and back; however, these involved multiple flights and different airport locations making the arrangements unfeasible.
The Southern Combination Football League (SCFL) has confirmed that the match will now be played on the mainland, either on Tuesday 12th or Wednesday 13th. The venue is yet to be confirmed.
Guernsey now have 48 hours to either arrange suitable travel around these revised dates or exercise their right to appeal to The FA.
@willgu05@NonLeagueCrowd@GuernseyFC@TheSCFL Stay the night and fly Monday (paid for by Guernsey FC like they do for every visiting team)
And before you say ‘what about the players jobs’ - Guernsey FC players have to take time off regularly when playing away mid week, and will do again since the game will now be midweek
@cramer_archie It’s the case all across world football - because it rewards the teams that have done better throughout the season.
If play-off games were just going to be at neutral grounds, there would be no incentive for teams in play-off places to finish in higher positions.
So @TheSCFL have moved the play-off final to the UK because of ‘complex travel arrangements’.
Now it’ll be played midweek, with players and fans having to take time off work to travel to support their team? Sounds even more complex to me…
Disappointing.
@GuernseyFC@PT_FC
That is an outrageous decision from Peter Bankes - how can you give a yellow for simulation there?!
@FA_PGMOL want to help Man Utd anymore in recent weeks?
