On November 27, 2007, Ric Flair stepped into the ring to make a major announcement. Acknowledging that retirement was inevitable, he addressed the crowd—but the overwhelming energy of the fans moved him, leading him to declare:

"I will never retire. I love this business. I will not stop fighting until I die in the ring!"

At that moment, Vince McMahon appeared and issued a dramatic ultimatum: from that night forward, every match Flair competed in would put his career on the line—if he lost, he would be forced to retire from WWE.
