Powerful words by 102 years old philosopher Edgar Morin, one of France's most revered intellectual figures, as well as a Jewish WW2 resistant who fought as a lieutenant in De Gaulle's France combattante.

Here are his words on Gaza: "I am both astonished and outraged by the fact that those who represent the descendants of a people who were persecuted for centuries for religious or racial reasons... That the descendants of this people who are today the decision-makers of the State of Israel, that they could not only colonize an entire people, partly drive them out of their land and seek to expel them for good... But also, after the massacre of October 7, engaged in a real massive slaughter on the populations of Gaza and continue, incessantly, hitting civilians, women, and children.
And to see the silence of the world, the silence of the United States, protectors of Israel, the silence of the Arab states, the silence of the European states who claim to be defenders of culture, humanity, human rights.
I think we are living through a horrible tragedy because we are also powerless in the face of this thing that is unleashing. At least, I say: bear witness! The only thing that remains if we cannot resist concretely is to testify. Let's resist in our minds, let's not be fooled, let's not forget, let's have the courage to face things head-on."
Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.
Imagine firing a quarter of your company and your first inclination is running to Twitter to post a rambling AI slop humble brag about how innovative and awesome you are for firing people.
@luckycloverssss They have a very competent team, but I believe it’s different when you’re the one in charge compared to when you're working for an agency
@luckycloverssss I think they work incredibly hard. Putting together concerts like theirs is a massive undertaking, especially when you’re the boss of everything on top of having to perform. It takes months and months of rehearsals, planning, and brainstorming.
@luckycloverssss 🤣 mainly I hope they have some acting projects coming up, together or separate. It doesn't matter, they're so gifted it's a shame they don't act much. I’ll be waiting for PP’s work this year while BK is busy touring
@luckycloverssss I always keep up with the news I care about, but I don't really have the time to get involved. Besides, the non-stop drama over everything just wears me out
Let me get this straight…
OpenAI was founded as a nonprofit. Open source. For everyone. “To benefit humanity.”
Then he raised billions of dollars.
Then he closed the source code.
Then he converted to for-profit.
Then he scraped the entire internet without asking anyone.
Then he used YOUR writing YOUR art YOUR code to train his models.
Now he’s on stage saying you’ll pay HIM to access intelligence. Just like a water meter.
He stole all of your data. He built the product with your work. And now he’s going to bill you to use it…
Corporate greed has reached an all time high, and they’re not even hiding it anymore…
