Jordan Mailata was asked if DeVonta Smith is ready to be a No. 1 receiver:
"He's always been a No. 1 receiver. Nothing has changed for Smitty. Smitty's always led from the front. So that narrative, we can shut that down now, because Smitty's always led from the front. Just because he never wore that captain's patch the last two years, didn't mean that he wasn't a captain in the locker room. But he always left from the front, and that's why I'm calling it now, when he wears that captain's patch this year, there's no surprise. He's always been a captain in my eyes, just from the way he's led, the way he's always gone about his business on and off the field. So he's just awesome."
Some Red Sox SPs the year after they were traded / walked (Breslow era):
2024:
🔺Chris Sale: 18-3, 2.38 ERA, won Cy Young
2025:
🔺Nick Pivetta: 13-5, 2.87 ERA, 6th in Cy Young
🔺Quinn Priester: 13-3, 3.32 ERA
2026:
🔺Kyle Harrison (so far): 7-1, 1.57 ERA, 8th in Cy Young odds
Cam Schlitter is going to jam it so far up the Red Sox ass tomorrow night and there’s nothing any of us can do about it. It is a scheduled colonoscopy at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox managed to trade Rafael Devers. Lose Alex Bregman. Opt to not want to pay Pete Alonso or go after a legitimate bat.
This is the worst thing that could’ve happened to Breslow out the gate. This offense is lifeless and the noise around it is LOUD
