Today I had my first-ever band 5 OT interview in the field I want—pediatrics—where they will support my goal of specialising in sensory, and they gave me the job! It’s safe to say there’s a lot of ugly crying this week 🥹😭🎉💚
Executive functions are primarily regulated by the pre frontal cortex which helps us plan, focus, remember details & help regulate our emotions in healthy & flexible ways.
It also involves recognising & understanding our emotions & to cope with distress effectively. 🧠🌱
Remembering all those who lost their lives on the 37th anniversary of The Hillsborough tragedy.
Thoughts, love & prayers to their families, friends and everybody affected by that tragic day in 1989. They shall never walk alone.

I have never seen punishment or punitive consequences teach self-regulation or improve behaviour,it often creates behavioural loops. Instead,we need to give pupils the psychological tools to reduce activity in their amygdala the brains alarm bell & increase cortex activity.🧠🌱
Most school behaviour policies get it wrong. They assume that behaviour is a choice & build systems around it.When that doesn't work we punish pupils harder.
What if behaviour policies were written with the young people's developing brains & nervous systems in mind?🧠🌱
You are not going to solve the behaviour of our young people by punishing them into a better way of being. This will only exacerbate their inner word. If we can be curious about their behaviour,we can help them deactivate these defensive manoeuvres that ensure their survival. 🧠🌱
🎉 Happy 77th birthday to the NHS!

Today, we celebrate the brilliance, creativity, and uniqueness of autistic people everywhere.
Autism isn’t something to be fixed - it’s a different way of experiencing and understanding the world, and that difference brings so much beauty, innovation, and depth.
