For me it was more of an adult coming of age story.

Pre-NWH, Peter's best days were being Peter. He had Aunt May. MJ. Ned. Happy and Stark Tech on speed dial. An Avenger who saved the world. All the validation he needed. Being Spiderman was his biggest struggle.

In #brandnewday, his best days are when he is Spiderman. As Peter, he doesn't have any life. Peter exists to serve Spiderman. Peter exists to contemplate and yearn for a life that he lost. Being Peter is his biggest struggle.

That's kinda what the life of an average man is, right? When you're a boy, it's the best thing ever. You got friends and family and people actually know you, and care about you. Your worst days are when you're tasked with adult responsibilities like doing a chore or something.

Then you become a man, and the boy in you just slowly dies. The boy had dreams and now all he has is regret. If you show him to the world, you will be ostracised because you're not allowed to be a boy if you're a man. You're not allowed to be Peter if you're Spiderman.

So in the ending when Peter is like, "I'm both" that's him accepting the boy and the man. It's so powerful.
