@KimberlyNFoster From my experience producing shows, the sound team are the most obsessed with their job, I never met a sound person who wasn’t obsessed with the details - this happens when the artist skips sound check.
@ThadJeff Promoters and bar owners love it. They get people out and then you can put a bunch of DJs on the lineup and they get people out.
I’m sure there were people before her but Vashti really laid the framework for the influencer to DJ pipeline.
@ThadJeff Technology aside - the rise of influencer as a profession. u have a lot of people who gained followings based on their likeness or personalities. They then are faced with how do they monetize their following. DJing has become an easy go to because they can get people to come out
The older I get, the more I realize that success at most things isn't about finding the one trick or secret nobody knows about.
It's consistently doing the boring, mundane things everyone knows about but is too unfocused/undisciplined to do.
Get good at boring.
@Jack_Raines Sounds good on paper but exclusivity is what they are selling. Soho House membership is selective, if you are not nominated by a current member your chances of getting in are slim. They have a committee that votes on new members on a seasonal basis - it’s not a rolling admission
@ThadJeff 2010 - the Riddim that had Party Shot, Ravin, Only Man She Wants, Settle Down was the last hits in dancehall. That was the last cohesive Riddim that had bangers. So I don’t know if the riddims dried up or there are not good artist to make hit songs on riddims…
@ThadJeff Honestly beyond Popcaan - things dried up. And that’s even with a constant Drake co-sign. Koffee had the last hit that caught my ear but that was one track…
