A Bill is set to be tabled in Parliament seeking changes to how presidential election results are tallied and announced.
The Bill proposes to:
โ Remove the national tallying centre.
โ Limit the IEBC Chairperson to adding up and announcing results from constituencies.
โ Require the IEBC Chairperson to declare the winner based on constituency results.
โ Stop the IEBC Chairperson from changing or checking the results already declared at constituency level.
The High Court has rejected a petition seeking to stop the IEBC from tallying and verifying presidential results at the national tallying centre.
The court ruled that the IEBC can check and add up the results, but cannot change figures declared at constituency level.
