I have been watching this From series for some days now and here's my theory:

The entire town is some kind of messed up RPG

- Everyone has their role (like healer, tank and warrior e.t.c) and they all have to put their hallucinations together to actually figure out the answer

- To progress, they actually have to encounter problems, like the music box, then solve them

-The talismans don't have any special kind of magic. It's not like the Monsters CANT enter. There's a rule, like a logic that If talisman is present, do not enter., afterall, games only work if rules are followed. By both villains and the heroes

- The faraway trees are portals while the numbered bottles bear the coordinates and taking them down messed up the coordinate that's why Dale got stuck in a wall, like a game spawn glitch

I'm still in Season 3 but this is what I think so far.
