Reception Puffins have loved reading Julia Donaldson books! This week we have read ‘a squash and a squeeze’. The children have made story maps of the characters and events of the book.
Year 2 Kingfishers take a lot care when writing especially in our handwriting lessons. They are mastering their letters! We have also started to focus on capital letters to ensure we write them correctly during our English lessons when creating sentences.
Year 4 Wrens investigated how different liquids pour and move. We timed how long it took for liquids such as ketchup, hand soap, water and oil to pour out. We discovered that water poured the fasted and easiest!
Last week, EYFS hosted their first ever ‘Day of Welcome’ where children were invited to come in school in their traditional clothes or colour that represented their home country. We shared Nursery Rhymes and action songs in different languages. We had fun learning new songs!
In Year 2 the children have been building upon their prior science knowledge about plants. Through scientific enquiry they are developing their identifying and classifying skills by labelling parts of a bulb.
Year 5 have started their topic on textiles. Our aim is to sew our own money pouch that fastens but before this we began by researching different designers to help us with inspiration. We then practised our sewing skills using the running and over stitch.
In year 5 we have been learning about the Solar System. We found out about Aristotle and his theories to explain how the Earth is a sphere at a time when people thought it was flat. We then did some research to find out more about him.
This week Reception Herons have been learning about Remembrance Day. As a part of their learning they have created their own poppies using their fingerprints.
Nursery were so excited to visit our new library, outside the Nursery classroom. We invited our families in to share stories and our love of reading with them. 📚 🧚♀️ 🦄
Nursery are loving the story of The Three Little Pigs. This week we are practising retelling the story, acting it out and creating a story map to help us. We are working so hard to remember the repeated refrains! 🏠 🪵 🧱 🐺 🐷

Year 2 Goldfinches have been learning about being healthy humans. We know how to keep ourselves healthy and keep our families and friends healthy. Washing our hands stops germs spreading.
