Peter Obi flew into Haiti in 2010 - days after a devastating earthquake flattened the country with actor Bob Manuel.
He didn’t just drop off a cheque. He donated $200,000, then stayed on the ground as an aid worker… with his son.
Was he campaigning to become President of Haiti?
No.
He was simply doing what some leaders only pretend to do when the cameras are rolling.

We have a huge IDENTITY CRISIS problem!
Our traditional names are now too “local” for our self proclaimed “upper class”
What are the chances that can Kendrick and Elliora can speak their mother tongue fluently?
🤦🏾♂️
DEAR CHRISTIANS, HINDUS, BUDDHISTS AND PEOPLE OF EVERY FAITH: I HAVE REACHED MY BREAKING POINT.
Effective immediately, I no longer identify as a Muslim.
The killing of the Bangladeshi couple has deeply traumatized me, shaken my beliefs and forced me to confront questions I can no longer ignore.
Between love and an AK-47, I choose love.
Between humility, kindness and a machete, I choose kindness.
Between embracing my neighbour and spilling their blood in the name of God, I choose humanity.
I am ready for my pork, my beer 🍻, my hugs, my laughter and the freedom to love my neighbours without fear.
I want to sit with happy people, respect different beliefs and live without being told that somebody must die because they offended another person's God.
ALLLAH DID NOT CREATE HUMANITY SO THAT HUMAN BEINGS COULD ENSLAVE, TERRORIZE OR SLAUGHTER ONE ANOTHER IN HIS NAME.
I am an African.
A proud Kenyan.
A Luo.
Before any religious label, I am a human being, and I refuse to surrender my conscience to any ideology that demands blood as proof of devotion.
I cannot accept killing in the name of God.
I cannot accept shooting in the name of God.
I cannot accept decapitation in the name of God.
If your understanding of religion requires me to become a murderer to prove my faith, then I want no part of it.
If God needs me to kill on His behalf, I have serious questions about the god being presented to me.
My heart is tired of religious arguments that turn human suffering into a theological debate.
A dead person is not brought back to life because someone quotes scripture.
A grieving family does not find comfort in explanations about sacred places.
Brutality does not become righteous simply because the perpetrator claims divine authority.
I want a world where Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, atheists and people of every other conviction can live together without fearing one another.
I want faith that produces compassion, not terror; humility, not arrogance; peace, not bloodshed.
I will not pretend that every religion or religious community is responsible for the actions of its extremists.
Nor will I condemn innocent people because of the beliefs they hold.
I will question, without apology, every ideology, institution and authority that excuses cruelty in the name of the sacred.
MY HUMANITY IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.
MY CONSCIENCE IS NOT FOR SALE.
NO RELIGION WILL CONVINCE ME THAT ANOTHER HUMAN BEING'S BLOOD IS THE PRICE OF MY SALVATION.
I choose love. I choose kindness. I choose Africa. I choose humanity.
And I refuse to be ashamed of choosing life over religiously justified violence.
You can’t claim to be PEACEFUL without having faced any sort of persecution.
For lack of a better analogy, you can’t claim to be a weightlifter without having lifted any weights.
The vast majority of Muslims worldwide support the death penalty for blasphemy, even apostasy. If your response to any sort of insult or criticism is aggression and murder, you are the exact opposite of PEACEFUL.
The “moderate Muslim” position is quite ironic.
Your claim is basically that the jihadist larger population of Muslims don’t represent true Islam, not even the very citadel of Islam (Saudi Arabia) with their barbaric blasphemy laws.
You spend more time defending your “peaceful” version of Islam than calling out the terrorism and barbarism carried out every other day in the name of Islam.
@_iamchimapaul@winexviv If the system requires the best academically proven brains for those that take care of our health, why not same for those who build the minds of our young ones for the future?
If you cannot go to any shrine in Ile-Ife to have sexual stuff there, then, don’t do it in mosque.
If your own religion permit it, good for you!
Enough of your silly takes and anti-Islam propaganda.
You foollls!!!!
WORLD FOOD DAY: HUNGER IN NIGERIA, NOW A NATIONAL EMERGENCY
Yesterday, as the world marked International Rural Women’s Day, I joined Nigerian rural women who produce the food that sustains our population. What became clear to me is that hunger in the country must be declared a national emergency.
Today, as the world marks World Food Day, Nigerians are confronting a painful reality: hunger, poverty, and insecurity continue to affect millions of families across the country.
Nigeria is now one of the hungriest countries in the world, ranking 117th out of 125, down from 109th out of 125 in 2023, when the current administration came into office. The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) estimates that about 36 million Nigerians will face acute hunger this year.
The tragedy is even more painful because Nigeria has vast, arable, and fertile land. Yet about 60% remains uncultivated, providing forest hideouts for terrorist organisations and other non-state actors.
On World Food Day, the message is clear: Nigerians deserve a country where no family goes to bed hungry, farmers can work without fear, and poverty and insecurity are confronted with urgency and compassion.
The fight against hunger must be treated as a national emergency.
Under our leadership, we will secure the country and return our hardworking farmers to their farms. They will receive targeted grants, subsidies, and other forms of support.
Together, we can build a Nigeria where no one goes to bed hungry and every farmer can work in peace and dignity. A New Nigeria is POssible.
Nigeria will be OK. -PO
The accumulated volume will make a tiny difference for big business, and cost the government a big chunk.
For the average person who this “relief” is supposedly targeted at however, a 3.5% decrease in fuel price over a very short span makes absolutely no difference.
But then again, you know this.
