I actually have a couple more:
- The Forerunner METAL is too shiny. I think a Halo 3 shine level would be perfect, but this is too H4/H5 for me
- The AR being 32 rounds is weird, but I assume they're adding the SMG and tweaked the AR to suit
I figured I'd take a moment to share some of my criticisms. I love what I saw and I'm excited as hell; but there IS room for improvement.
A thread 🧵
- I feel there's a lack of suspensions on the Warthog & the wheels sit too high. Not a big issue, just a minor gripe.

@Pounding_Qs@ACalyrex@VNanon_ And again, no. Paul Russel confirmed that the Forerunners were more like a relative species to humanity, or a group of Early humans uplifted by another group of people (The Precursors). This is STILL the case, even UNDER 343/HS.
@Pounding_Qs@ACalyrex@VNanon_ Frankie was not the only writer for those terminals and it's insane that people continually try and pull the argument that "Frank was some rogue agent who planted seeds!" When in actuality everything in those terminals were vetted by Bungie & written by a team of SEVERAL people.
@Pounding_Qs@ACalyrex@VNanon_ Right but the distinction doesn't really matter. Regardless of what Bungie wanted, they were indecisive as hell and some former devs are even on record to say they hated the idea, OR that Forerunner's and Humans are distant relatives—something that's STILL part of Halo lore.
@Pounding_Qs@ACalyrex@VNanon_ No. Bungie was literally involved with HW1. Microsoft forced it sure, but Bungie was involved. It's not like Halo Legends where they weren't.
@mohaflemite@Installation001 Condense 8.5 hours down to maybe 2.5 hours, MAX, and a lot of the story and nuance would get lost along the way. Yeah, Alex Garland's script exists but it's chalk full of said issues (Things missing, events heavily condensed, characters feeling off, lack of certain things, etc).
@mohaflemite@Installation001 I disagree, I feel like a TV series with HBO/Amazon Prime budget that's 8-10 episodes would actually be better. Because CE's game is about 10 hours to complete, 1.5 of thT is cutscenes, and a good chunk of story happens through playing the game. A movie would have to (1/2)
@5Backwoods@Halo2better I actually thought that, too! I actually followed the naming convention of Coagulation/Hemorrhage for my H3 mod BG remake, "Hematoma".

@Mal5veyg@Lunnzies “Not enough story” is subjective. CE is heavily compressed because gameplay is part of the storytelling structure. Adaptation expands that, it doesn’t invent it.
Film can work, but TV isn’t “delusion”, it’s just a different tradeoff.
@Mal5veyg@Lunnzies You're viewing Combat Evolved through the lens of "Summer action blockbuster", and while that's true on a surface level, Halo is a hell of a lot more than just "Green man fights aliens".
@Mal5veyg@Lunnzies Gameplay time ≠ story time. A lot of that “5 hours” is mechanics and repetition. TV replaces that with scenes, character, and worldbuilding. It allows scenes to breathe, characters to exist, and allows you to actually tell the story in a medium better suited for it.
