My Part 1 MBBS results are out, and out of a class of 94 students, only 33 passed on the first attempt. I made that list.

It feels like yesterday when I was fighting for my life just to get into medical school. I remember taking JAMB four times before finally getting here.

The first time, with a score of 247, I was offered admission to study Optometry, which I declined.

The second time, with 289 and a 78 in Post UTME, I was offered Nursing at UNIMED, the school I applied to. I declined again.

The third time, with 317, I gained admission to study Medicine, but a week later, some of us were asked to move to Dentistry due to JAMB quota issues.

Tired of the near success syndrome, I settled for Pharmacy.

I resumed as a frustrated 100 level Pharmacy student and decided to give it one more try. And boom, here we are.

This is me, done with preclinicals and ready for clinicals in the most competitive course in Nigeria.

I can’t be anything but grateful to God. This has always been a dream. Three solid years in medical school, no resits, even while balancing the heavy demands of trading.
