With another singer with more sass and tone, this song would hit a lot better.
Snoh Aalegra has good taste when it comes to music. But her voice doesn’t always gel with it, and I felt her hitting the limits of this on Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.
It takes an inordinate amount of wit and charm to best Conan O’Brien in a riff-off. The most an average comedian or host can hope for is not to embarrass themselves trying, which is largely how Kareem Rahma fared in a recent episode of his popular social-media series, Subway Takes. But toward the end of the interview, Rahma and O’Brien were shown up by a stranger named Debbie Shields who just so happened to be commuting on their train.
The 68-year old native New Yorker didn’t know what ‘SubwayTakes’ was, or that she was about to get pulled into a viral improvisational comedy bit. But thanks to a childhood spent performing in church and experience hosting comedy and karaoke nights, she says her instincts kicked in immediately.
This 'SubwayTakes' appearance isn’t even the first time she has been put on the spot by someone with a huge comedy platform.
Shields shares which comedian once pulled her onstage at Barclays Center, how she’s handling her virality, and whether she’d be interested in hosting a show of her own: https://t.co/WktKtAC7Fu
I fully disagree.
There is more to being a pop star than just being able to sing. Look at Leona Lewis. Great voice, but she’s dusty. Has zero ‘it’ factor. Then look at Madonna. Janet Jackson. Namie Amuro. Britney Spears. ‘Can’t sing’, but were huge and deservedly so.
ALERT: Woman being recorded lying down on top of a waterfall slips and plunges 65 feet to her death.
Windy Rahma Putri, 25, was with friends at the Robo Waterfall in Harau, a protected nature preserve in West Sumatra.
While lying in the stream at the top of the waterfall, Putri lost her grip and was swept away by the current as she tried desperately to catch herself.
More than 100 first responders took part in the search for Putri, and her body was eventually found at the bottom of the deep ravine below the waterfall the following day.
