For some godawful reason and against my better judgement, I feel like weighing in on the Liver Doc vs Vidit debate.
It is hurtful for Vidit to have someone discredit his family online. Although, liver doc did not know say his father is a bad Ayurvedic migraine specialist, or his mother is a bad cosmetologist. That would've been a personal attack. He only clarified that they are not doctors.
Now, one can say what's the big deal even if Vidit called them doctors, what is the need for so much anger. But that's where we miss the context of a physician.
People die due to these treatments and therapies. There is no other way to put it. People distrust real doctors, avoid taking the right treatment, and in a lot of cases permanently damage their health, in worst cases they die.
When the consequences of something are so dire, it is important to educate, to use the right vocabulary, to be informed. Unfortunately, the government doesn't do its job in this matter. If anything, this is as important as the polio vaccination program.
We don't see the repercussions of this unfold in our every day lives but physicians do. That is their context.

After a long stint of using clear nights to attempt to sleep instead of stargaze I managed to make it happen this week. Hereโs M101โthe Pinwheel Galaxy from my back garden in NW UK. Itโs 21 million light-years away and nearly twice the size of the Milky Way

@DrEilidhMaria Lots of people are shortlisted for interview from a very academic background and hence they score highly on the written application, this does not correlate well with clinical performance.
Interviewer fatigue - yes, but I donโt think it affects scoring much to be honest
3/3
@DrEilidhMaria I find there is quite a lot of variation in candidate performance within in the clinical scenario. Particularly when candidates score 3 (avg) and 5 (excellent). I think more weight should be given to the clinical scenario in the future.

Devastating results from the @UKHSA annual report on HIV in England: 6,008 new HIV diagnoses in 2023, up 56% from 3,859 in 2019.
Evidence of the cuts which have decimated our services.
