Dany just took the city like in 5 min and erradicated an entire army of 20 thousands strong plus a whole fleet but they weren't cooke- I mean, afraid enough.
If the people of KL were already so afraid of Cersei that they wouldn't revolt, why kill them because, apparently, "fear" was her only option left. It could be said that Cersei already did the job for her.
People justifying and even praising the deaths of the people of KL because the walk of shame, Ned's execution and so on are the same that say "Thanos did nothing wrong" with a straight face.
And they are dangerous.
It's also laughable that people are using Randyll and Dickon's execution as "red flag". Yes, she could've done something else, yes it was something horrible, yes it does makes us question about the extent of her "mercy", but madness? Really?
By those standards even Robb was mad.
This fandom is at odds with itself right now. Really, one thing is to believe/be certain that Dany's dark turn in TWOW will LEAD to death and suffering and a whole different one is to say that she will actively, purposely and deliberatly massacre an entire city.
A more tragic, devastating and coherent alternative would be for her to accidentaly cause the deaths of tens of thousands because of her blind rage and confusion directed towards fAegon and co.
There is her breaking point and should have nothing to do with "madness"
Last class my teacher used classic psychoanalisis to explain Dany's state of mind and the reason of her downfall last episode. It was fun. Made me see it from a different perspective.
Still bad writing though.
Acts of violence, murder, rape and the like are not exclusively done by people who are "mad". That's naive. Many are not that different from you or me.
"Human. All too human".
Making a well, reasonable case against feudalism is not the same as talking about madness nor associating with making executions and the like in times of war and according to their laws, however horrible that might look to us.
@StevenAttewell @A_Pelliccio@frankbumb @bookshelfstud @SGRobotz That could also work, although I guess it means that whatever is done to stop this Second Long Night won't convince the remaining heroes that the threat is gone for sure.
Would that mean that Stannis still fights in the final battle?
Arya has been saying that she's going to "kill the Queen" since last season iirc, not saying Cersei's name explecetly. If she ends up killing Dany we know that that's going to be their justification. "It was foreshadowed".
After all the genuine pain, loss and feelings of loneliness, she could've break in tears right there and that would've made for a really heartbreaking scene.
โAny man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.โ
If this were her face after realizing what she had done, what she had become. Then it would've been perfect.
