Well, that was wild. I'm at the Australian Parliament and just left a meeting with two staffers for the governing party. They told us that the government needed more power to censor things like the upcoming US execution of Nidal Hasan.
When I asked why they needed to censor that video, one said it was to prevent copycat killings. Copycat killings by governments? I asked. Er, no, they said. Copycat killings like of a backpacker, several decades ago.
So, under that logic, I pointed out, the government should censor things like last year's Bondi massacre, where two Muslims killed 15 people, no? Well, that was news, they said. Didn't they realize their bill would allow the government to censor news? They didn't seem to know, or care.
They also admitted that they did not know that the bill would allow the government to create and operate an unlimited number of fake social media accounts to attack its political enemies and spread disinformation. Having presented them with information they had never heard about a bill they had clearly not read, they emphasized to us, strenuously, that they were moving forward with the bill.
So there you have it. The government wants the power to arbitrarily censor scenes of violent crime, or violence, for any reason. And it wants the power to use an unlimited number of fake accounts to wage offensive disinformational warfare against the Australian people.
Given that the Bondi massacre last year increased public opposition to mass migration, and support for the populist One Nation Party, it seems obvious that the government wants to censor such events in order to protect its political power.
It's quite telling how obediently governing party members insist such a law is needed without even knowing what's in it.
That's if they're working, why can't richer countries take the humanitarian load? We still have Aussies lacking government support. The Building a New Life in Australia study found that 88 per cent of humanitarian migrants received some government income support in the year after arrival (93 per cent of women, 83 per cent of men), falling so that income support was the main income source for 56 per cent at year five and 43 per cent at year ten.
I asked outside of chat - The Larsen post is false as breaking news. It's a July 2025 story being reposted with the same old numbers, and none of Chris Larsen's labelled wallets has moved any XRP in the last 7 days.
The original event was real. On 15 Jul 2025, Larsen's wallet sent 8M XRP to Coinbase, on top of 1.5M he'd sent there in June. Media reported it as "9.5M XRP (~$26M)" back when XRP was near $2.90 (DL News, Decrypt). At today's ~$1.51, the same amount would only be about $14M, which is the giveaway. His last big move was 50M XRP to Evernorth in Oct 2025. Whale Alert and the news show nothing new from him.
One limit: I can only check the wallets publicly labelled as his, but nobody has reported any other wallet moving. Market impact is nil. @o_wendy_ is a small account of about 2K followers, not the well-known Crypto Wendy O, and reposting old headlines as "BREAKING" is a common engagement trick.
@AlboMP@Grok, so does this mean the banks and payment processors won't be receiving this $1.6b, or are Australians going to still be paying this one way or another?
Is this a banking level ban, or a ban on the consumer side, that retailers still need to pay?

🚨This is one of the most important moments ever aired on CNBC.
Billionaire investor Chamath Palihapitiya says the media lied to millions of Americans about President Trump, and that after going back to the original source material, he realized he had been completely misled about Trump’s character.
PALIHAPITIYA: “The reality is that most of us were lied to by the media about President Trump.”
“And if you just go back to the source material, you should take away two things.”
“One, he didn’t say half the things he said, and two, why did these other people just fabricate what they wanted to say so that they could essentially assassinate his character?”
“I think that that second thing is completely unacceptable in America, and there’s still been no repercussions, really.”
“I took the time to learn about it. I admitted where…you know, the way that I met him was, I admitted on the pod, which, you know, has millions of viewers.”
“And I said, I got it totally wrong because I went and I watched Charlottesville.”
“And, you know, the first person to call me? President Trump.”
“And I got to know him and I put the phone down, I called my wife, and I said, we got it TOTALLY, totally wrong. We were lied to.”
“And then I got to know him and he is fantastic!”
Damn right. We've raised 100k in 4 days. Ordinary Aussies aren't buying the MSM and leftist bs that I'm married to a rapist. What a pathetic and lame attempt to take down my honourable husband and our beautiful family. We will sue them all. This is just the start.
Get behind these Aussie legends Joe and James Howe, who are raising money to sue some lefty media morons for defamation. Link in the video

Hey @grok , which is more likely to create a human extinction event or series of events in the next 25 years , AI or Climate Change ? Assign a probability to each
If the answer to either is yes, do your best to put a timeline for when you think it happens
If the answer is no. Explain why

And you still have to work and get only 50% of your earnings?
You kidding me!
Where’s the money?
