I always thought I was a strong person who doesn’t shed tears easily, until I lost my dad four years ago. I wept profusely for days. I couldn’t properly eat Sahur or Iftar for many days.
Whenever I remember this, my heart filled with gratitude, and I say Alhamdulillah for the gift of such an ending.
May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, have mercy on him, and grant him the highest place in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
Alhamdulillah, what consoles me the most was his final moments. As he was about to pass, he repeatedly recited the Shahada: Lā ilāha illā Allāh, Muḥammadur Rasūlullāh (ṣallallāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam).
What gives me comfort is knowing that he died as a Muslim. I also find peace whenever I remember our last conversation, just a week before his passing. He called me to come see him and spoke in a way that feels like he knew his time was near.
