@esoundsignal Absolutely crazy reveals over the last week, FF Resonance too! Can't remember the last year that had so much gaming hype. 26/27 going to be wild.
Oh man, that's very Twitter! Sorry you've had to deal with that.
I don't have any skin in the game with this debate as I've never played Persona, but if I were a big fan of the series, I would probably want to play 1 & 2 no matter how old/boring/different they are - I would want to see how the series I love got to where it was.
I didn't particularly enjoy the NES FFs as games that much when I played them for the first time a few years back, but I did enjoy the process of getting to know the series and its history better, and I'm glad SqEx took the effort to preserve them and make them available. I think as a general principle preservation is a positive thing, especially for early games in important series (even if they aren't that great by modern standards).
Japanese VAs have also changed throughout the project - Barrett and Reno. So I don't think there will be a way to play the game with perfect consistency unless they patch the new performers to replace the old. That would be a pretty cold move in the case of the Japanese Reno actor, but I'd understand it for English Sephiroth.
@PrthakStormrune@_NoctisLCaelum@nhamaguc I really hope they keep the Remake team together for the next mainline FF. They seem to have an exceptionally good workflow going.
@esoundsignal So excited Eddie. I absolutely devoured the first two entries, and it just seems like the trilogy is getting better and better. They don't seem to be holding anything back now, it's going to be incredible. Music is perfect too.
@TaylorsShelf Yep, 13 years in total to develop and release all three. It's crazy how much they've found their flow with these remakes, I really hope Hamaguchi gets to lead on XVII and keeps the team together.
@ArcWillow09 This is absolutely killing me. I'm sure we'll get Part 3 news at SGF though at the very least. But XIII remaster and Nier news would be amazing too (and an update on the IX situation, confirming remake or at least news on the anime).
I was very grateful to get a free game like that so hopefully my comment about the length didn't sound like a critique. I meant more that it had so much potential, I would have happily paid for a full length game based on that story and setting. Is it a story you'd have liked to explore more? Or do you feel like you managed to say everything you wanted?
@esoundsignal Your music is awesome Eddie - Chained Echos is the best retro RPG soundtrack I've heard for the last few gens. I mentioned doing an arrangement back in the CE Discord a few months back and I'm still really itching to do it, just struggling to find the time at the moment!
@StudiosArtisan Yes! I've joked before that if you put a waterfall in your game with nothing behind it you need to be blacklisted from the industry ๐ It's just...not how things are done round here!
@SOEternity_Game Hey, I'd love to send over a pitch to contribute some music or audio programming for this game if you're looking for any support with that! The visual design is super stylish and inspiring, and it looks like a lot of fun to play. Please drop me a DM if you'd like to chat!
@SOEternity_Game@ArcWillow09 And thanks @ArcWillow09 for putting it on my radar, this looks very stylish! It'll be really interesting to play a game that doesn't use aim assist, I actually can't think of any modern games I've played without it. Could be the start of a new trend!
@retrofrito@edannunziata ๐ค๐ค I loved the originals and how brutal they were as a kid when I had hours every day to grind through them, but adult me will be very grateful for a checkpoint system.
