Scholar Transport Crash Leaves 21 Pupils Injured in Katlehong:

Twenty-one primary school pupils were injured, including two pedestrians, after a scholar transport vehicle collided with a Honda Jazz on the M7 in Tsietsi, outside Katlehong, on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services responded shortly before 7am.

The VW microbus, reportedly a 10-seater, was carrying 20 occupants, including the driver, when the crash occurred.

The Honda Jazz had four occupants.

All occupants of both vehicles received medical treatment before being transported to nearby hospitals.

Four pupils sustained serious but stable injuries, while the remaining pupils and other occupants suffered minor injuries.

Two pupils waiting for transport on the roadside were also struck during the incident and sustained minor injuries.

The M7 was temporarily closed while rescue operations were underway.

The scene has been handed
over to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) for investigation.
