I first heard Taylor Swift on XoneFM when I was in tenth grade, and I fell in love with her songs the way so many teenage girls dream about love through music.
Then came university, and with it came Red and 1989 — the soundtrack to some of the most innocent and hopeful years of my life. Somehow, her songs kept arriving at exactly the chapters I was living through.
As the years passed, life happened to both of us.
I married my first love. I became a mother. Then a mother again.
Meanwhile, Taylor kept searching for the person she would one day call home. Like many women, she spent years mistaking almosts for forevers. As a woman who grew up listening to her music, I think I understood at least a little of that journey.
For years, I carried a quiet wish to write a song for her — not as a singer, but as a fan, a witness, and in some small way, a fellow traveler through life.
When it seemed she had finally found the kind of love she’d been writing toward all these years, it felt like a meaningful moment to me. I was genuinely happy for her. And when those emotions became too big to keep inside, I wrote this song.
I wrote it from the seat of an imaginary wedding guest — someone watching a dear friend walk toward the ending she’d been searching for all along. In my mind, I was sitting among the bride’s friends, watching her walk down the aisle and thinking, “She made it.”
I also had so much fun creating this project and imagining the music video. Every song, every memory, every reference is there for a reason. Past, present, and future are woven together throughout the story. I hope Taylor and the Swifties will enjoy discovering all the little details hidden inside it.
If this song resonates with you, I hope you’ll help me share it.
And if this song somehow finds its way to Taylor, a little dream I’ve carried since I was sixteen will finally come true.

Writing, rehearsing, directing and shooting the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia” was the thrill of a lifetime because I got to be reunited with my Eras Tour family!! I wanted each one-take scene to feel like a live performance and remind us all of how it felt to be at those shows together. Making every moment count. It’s a journey through the chaotic world of show business. I loved working with Rodrigo Prieto, Ethan Tobman and Mandy Moore to dream up these visuals. A huge thank you to this massive cast who kept it 💯 and also kept the secret of this video even existing. It’s out on YouTube NOW!

My favorite part about writing is that first spark of an idea. It can happen at any time, for any reason. The idea for the Opalite music video crash landed into my imagination when I was doing promo for The Life of a Showgirl. I was a guest on one of my favorite shows, @TheGNShow. For those of you who aren’t familiar, it’s a UK late night show where Graham Norton (the insanely charismatic and lovable host) invites a random group of actors, entertainers, musicians, etc to be on his show and we all sit there and chat like it’s a dinner party. They even serve wine. Anyway. I remember thinking I got ridiculously lucky with the group I was paired with. Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and @LewisCapaldi. All people whose work I’ve admired from afar. When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos. He’s Irish! He was joking! Except that in that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an *idea*. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role. I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too. Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the 90’s with us and help with this video. You might even recognize some friendly faces from The Eras Tour. I got to work with one of my favorite people in the world, Rodrigo Prieto, again! I had more fun than I ever imagined - Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices. It was an absolute thrill to create this story and these characters. Shot on film. The Opalite video is out now on Spotify & Apple Music.
