Football plays an essential role in our British sporting heritage and it is only fair that all are given equal opportunities in the future of our football.

🙌 Inspiring positive change 🙌
To create a sustainable future for women's and girls' football in England, we're committing to 8️⃣ transformational objectives to be achieved by 2024:
@FIFAcom position on Russin involement in football needs an immediate overheaul, as does @FIFAcom leadership. Credit to the @FA@EnglandFootball for doing the right thing, at speed.

This case, like many others, is also about good Goverance and establishing the right standard of business ethics. There has to be questions about the regulatory framework and whether its fit for purpose: spoiler (it's not!)
This is a distressing case and tough to listen. It's about racism of course and the ex-Chair, in an honest exchange, has just accepted, at the Select Committee, he fears that Yorkshire C.C. is institutionally rascist.

Of course there will be views across this issue, however @OliverDowden has demonstrated a fundamental lack of judgement here. @ECB_cricket, and all sports Governing bodies, need to show leadership in their own sport, and be judged on that decision making.
Ollie Robinson’s tweets were offensive and wrong.
They are also a decade old and written by a teenager. The teenager is now a man and has rightly apologised. The ECB has gone over the top by suspending him and should think again.
Just checked back - and the last time Britain's women won the 4x100 freestyle at the European Championships really WAS in the first event held in 1927....94 years ago and doesn't merit coverage on the national broadcaster this morning. Context is everything.
'I'm hoping this is the start of the process of finding a solution. Knowledge and data are key, and this study which the Alzheimer's Society have fantastically supported, as that sort of thing isn't cheap, will allow us to build a bank of data.'

If it's been a tough football week, and it's challenged your belief, be sure to watch the wonderful @derrycityfc in Different league: The Derry City Story @TheBBCtv. Think sport can't help change the world? Think again!
@FA Guidance on step 2 toward the return of grass roots football is out now. It includes changing rooms (!!) which is going to please a lot of footballers - as well as friends 'n family! @AmateurFC .....look forward to views.
The big return just got better (and cheaper)! Thanks @adidasUK 👏
To celebrate the return of grassroots football, adidas have paid the subs of all AFC teams for their first games this weekend. It's good to be back!
This is all part of the #adidasfootballcollective.
@_SportsMinistry commends some great work by @danroan and the Beeb ream on these cases. The conclusion that the clubs and the @FA should have done more is both obvious, and a shocker. If you haven't seen it, do so. The image of the @FA shutting the door in the reporters face.....
I caught up with Crewe Alexandra Chairman John Bowler in Nov 2016 the week after Andy Woodward went public about the sexual abuse he suffered as a youth player at the hands of the club’s ex-coach Barry Bennell.
Today he finally quit.
Here’s what he had to say back then:
Great news about the latest TV deal and women's football. @BBCSport@SkyFootball ........it's lock down, champions league on TV now (right now!). Big opportunity to get this football to a wider audience! Any chance ?

A gut-wrenching watch with some incredibly brave individuals (and superb journalism). Would be good to know how far sport has come in protecting young aspiring talent @BBCSport@BBCNews@PFA@FIFAcom

Sensible, and for some very dissapointing. @_SportsMinistry asks, for future Olympics should only locals attend? (and maybe have them every 2 years). Bigger picture, better for us all - long term?? @BBCSport@friends_earth@iocmedia@worldolympians
