🚨 Direct-to-consumer medical testing: an industry built on fear
This is a worrying trend and starting to impact #NHS too
Sadly a marker for Commercial Determinants of Health CDOH

@iceberg4w@ShaunLintern There's essentially no contingency for this scenario that can maintain full clinical service provision. Scale of modern pathology testing is huge (50,000+ tests per day for many hospitals), cannot be done manually
#EvidenceKnowHow All tests give false positives. Giving the whole population full body scans would subject many to unnecessary extra testing and the psychological strain of being told they have a particular disease.
On such scales, screening can cause more harm than good.
there are big questions about the cost effectiveness of general health checks, and they're not endorsed by the national screening committee set up for that purpose - see https://t.co/WB2kXa62eh
Daily vitamins have no beneficial effect on mortality, & may be detrimental. Can the myth we all need supplementation please go away now? We've 50+ years of data against it, yet Americans alone will spend $50 billion this year on expensive urine..
