This is the exact thought I had after the checkered flag at Talladega. Such irony.
For Love and Larson, it has to be extra satisfying. End of last season, there were talks that their 2025 championships “weren’t earned.” Well, they're certainly earning them now.
There is something kind of hilarious about the idea that #NASCAR might have the EXACT SAME champions in the first year of 'The Chase' as they did in the last season of 'The Playoffs'.
Cup: #5 Kyle Larson
O'Reilly: #2 Jesse Love
Trucks: #11 TRICON (w/ Honeycutt instead of Heim)
What a Talladega race!

“It’ll give us something to look at.”
Jeff Gordon spoke to the work Kyle Larson has done to improve on superspeedways and the strategy in the early part of the race that RFK Racing pulled.
Per the Richard Childress Racing post-race press release, Austin Hill lost power coming to the checkered:
“We were close. Our United Rentals Chevrolet was good and we worked all day to put ourselves in a position at the end. Made moves when we had to, pushed and stayed in line when we needed to. The car had speed and I’m proud of the work the guys put in to qualify on the front row and have a shot at the win. Just lost power coming to the checkered.”
Joey Logano was checked and released from the Infield Care Center:
“And at this moment it was very much a Talladega nights, oh, no, I’m upside down, this is not good moment. I can’t thank the safety crew enough. They did an amazing job flipping that thing over. The car did a great job. Last time I flipped it was crushed on my head. This time, I don’t think any of the roll cage crushed at all. I appreciate what NASCAR’s done. Thank you, and the safety team, for getting me out of there. Some vicious hits in this one. Just happy to be alive."
What these drivers do is unreal. Major 'thank you' to the incredible AMR Safety Team for their quick response on this one.
Good to see Logano get out of the car under his own power.
You can’t advertise the “FASTEST TRACK IN THE WORLD” and have your top product only using 1/4 throttle for over half of the race. Thank you for showing the true hilarity of this fuel mileage racing RFK!
