🏴🚨 SCOTLAND'S COEFFICIENT WEEKLY REVIEW🚨🏴 (3 mins reading time)
🏴The three teams:
🔵 We were on the verge of a second successive weekly review with zero coefficient points added, until Rangers' great 2nd half performance added 0.4 last night against Real Betis 🇪🇸
⏬ I said in my last review that although losing to PSV🇳🇱 was a big financial blow for them - it was probably for the best that Rangers dropped down to the EL. Watching a brilliant Arsenal🏴 team dismantle PSV🇳🇱 like they were nothing only confirms the gulf between the tournaments
🌍 They have two away EL games in October against the weaker 2 teams in their group - remaining undefeated would be a fantastic start and would see them on their way to another EL top 2 finish
1⃣ Winning the group would earn 1 bonus point, and finishing 2nd would earn at least 0.4 (if they win the knockout round it would be 0.6). There are no bonus points if they finish 3rd and drop to Conference
🍀 Celtic competed well at times in the game against Feyenoord🇳🇱, but a very poor goal on the stroke of half time changed the course of the match before 2 inexperienced red cards ended the game as a contest
3⃣ It's a missed opportunity really as this is the last season where Feyenoord🇳🇱 would be a pot 1 team by virtue of being Dutch champions
🎩 Pot 1 next season reverts to being assigned based on coefficient rankings rather than league winners & so Feyenoord🇳🇱 would be a pot 3 team
🚫 They did not look a level above Celtic before the sendings off, and as a minimum in this group Celtic should beat them at home on matchday 6
🏟️ They have 2 home CL games in October - they have to win at least one to try and keep themselves in contention. If they get some defenders back from injury and capitalise on any chances they do create, then hopefully they can get that elusive win
1⃣ Finishing 1st or 2nd in the Champions league earns 1 bonus point, finishing 3rd and winning the knockout round in the Europa earns only 0.2 bonus points
🔴 Aberdeen surprised almost everyone by only losing 2-1 in Frankfurt🇩🇪, conceding to a penalty and a set piece. With some better finishing they could have even earned a point in added time, after a very spirited performance
🏟️ They also have 2 home ECL games in October, starting with the must win game against HJK Helsinki🇫🇮
🌍 A win and a draw I think would be a fantastic return and would keep them in the running before heading to two tough away trips
1⃣ There's 0.4 bonus points for finishing 1st in the conference league and 0.2 for finishing 2nd - regardless of winning or losing the Conference knockout round

This Season:
9⃣ Turkey🇹🇷 pulled further ahead of us in 9th, now 1.8 points ahead of us with another unbeaten week, 1 win and 2 draws. As I've mentioned before - we are unlikely to catch them
🔟 Scotland🏴 still sit 10th in the rankings and we've now added 2.4 coefficient points this season, against a hopeful target of about 7 points
🇦🇹 We retain our 1.65 point lead over Austria in 11th after they too only won 1 game, with Salzbug winning away at Benfica🇵🇹 while Sturm Graz and Lask both lost
🇦🇹 At 0.4 points per win they would need to outperform us by about 5 wins to overtake us in the top 10 this season (however, be wary of Salzburg finishing in the top 2 in the CL as they'd get 1 bonus point)
🇨🇭 We increased our lead to 2.075 point lead over Switzerland after they only managed a Lugano draw, with Young Boys and Servette both losing
⏭️ How we finish this season in the rankings, determines what European places are awarded at the end of next season (24/25)

Next season:
📉Remains very dangerous to us as we start 15th (as it stands) due to our best season of 9.75 points dropping off at the end of this season
🔟 We are still 2.3 points behind Austria in 10th (approx. 6 GS wins)
🇩🇰 Denmark behind us in 16th are only 0.225 points (less than a win)
2⃣ To start next season much closer to the top 10 we really need 2 teams in Europe after Christmas - hopefully both Rangers & Celtic reach the Europa League knockouts
⏭️ How we finish next season in the rankings, determines what European places are awarded at the end of the following season (25/26)

@SPiercePatrick@aboutceltic I stand corrected, 12k a week. You have to pay to retain quality and, for me, he is quality. He wouldn't even be top 3 on the wage bill at 20k a week. Can't disagree that Kyogo is the fave though but stats speak for themselves.
"It just shows the lure and the size of Rangers." 🔵
Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd believes bringing in Aaron Ramsey is a huge deal for Scottish football as a whole, likening it to the move of Paul Gascoigne when he moved to Ibrox in 1995 👀
