Ah..
The World Cup in 2027 always felt a bridge too far, but Rohit would feel he’s not had a “bad” run for him to be told to move on. Wonder what this means for Virat, as we’ve seen often recently, they’ve been grouped together. Hopefully not what I think this might become..
Just when I was getting excited for the ODIs to begin, the prospect of Dube, Axar & Sundar as death pace hitters & to bowl 20 overs in these conditions is, well, questionable to say the least.
Pretty clear that is a rushed decision. The numbers don’t suggest that he is an elite cricketer but an incredible competitor with elite moments. We’re seeing an end of an era with multiple post-2010 debutants calling it quits..
One of England's all-time greatest captains, Ben Stokes, has decided to retire from international cricket at the end of this Test match.
Ben, you have been the most inspirational captain, leader and legend this team could have ever hoped for.
We love you so much and wish you all the best in your retirement ❤️
England will never be the same again.
One of the bonafide greats of the game who had his own unique style of going about things. Great player, no doubt, but also a fine ambassador of the game. Go well, Kane!
KL Rahul 84(139) vs Aus 3rd Test 2024 when India was 44-4 at one stage, him scoring 30 of those 44
Game was interrupted by rain 3-4 times during India’s innings
Suryakumar has been a fantastic flag bearer for India in T20s over the last 5 years & there’s not much else he could’ve done in this format. But, it’s a ruthless but the right decision from BCCI to move on from him as a captain & Shreyas is a fascinating choice on many levels
Arsenal winning the league after 22 years gives me hope that United can get back to the pinnacle & win trophies that really matter. Came 2nd thrice in a row, but the players & manager kept going and they finally got what they deserved. Rather them than City or Liverpool, anyway.
Some interesting names across both formats - Gurnoor, Harsh particularly. Don’t see why you’d really need to sack Pant as VC in Tests. No Axar in ODIs is a bit interesting. Good to see Hardik in ODIs, need him to get in rhythm over the next 12 months before the World Cup.
As expected, Gambhir as a coach breeds insecurity through an unstable approach. No wonder outside a format where the talent India has is just ridiculous, there’s been extreme inconsistency.
Carrick’s done pretty much everything that one could’ve asked for when he took over. Yes, there’s concerns over how he may handle more games with Europe, but with no outstanding candidate available, it’s a no brainer to atleast give him an opportunity. Need signings, of course.
